Biobased Industries Joint Undertaking

The Biobased Industries Joint Undertaking (BBI JU) is a 4 bio € partnership between the EU and the Bio-based Industries Consortium (BBIC). Its goal is to stimulate the use of renewable resources and innovative technologies for greener everyday products. The BJU has created a variety of projects to convert lignocellulosic feedstocks into chemicals, fuels and materials.

Goals of BBI JU

The BBI JU has been created to leverage Europe’s advanced Biobased research and technology; diversify farmers and growers incomes; replace oil-based chemicals with biodegradable and biobased ones; generate new industries, revitalize others and create thousands of jobs, and to develop underutilized residues of agriculture and forestry.
