Functionally, lignocellulose biopolymers strengthen the cell wall of plants and are made of three main components. Cellulose and hemicellulose form a framework and the third component, lignin, is an adhesive that solidifies the cell wall.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fine chemicals warehouse<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.chemistryworld.com\/future-of-plastics\/sustainable-solutions-for-plastics-the-future-role-of-lignins\/4011826.article\" target=\"_blank\">Lignins are also useful industrially<\/a>&nbsp;\u2013 you can think of lignins as kind of like a sustainable warehouse of fine chemicals. And the magic of lignins doesn\u2019t stop there, because scientists hold the key to that warehouse \u2013 it is called depolymerisation. Once the lignin is depolymerised, its polyaromatic feedstocks can often stand in for the essential feedstocks of petroleum-derived materials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Depolymerization<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The structural and functional benefits that terrestrial plant life derives from lignins are also useful industrially \u2013 you can think of lignins as kind of like a sustainable warehouse of fine chemicals.&nbsp;And the magic of lignins doesn\u2019t stop there, because scientists hold the key to that warehouse \u2013 it is called depolymerisation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Applications<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once the lignin is depolymerised, its polyaromatic feedstocks can often stand in for the essential feedstocks of petroleum-derived materials.
